Shaft grinding

Grinding is an abrasive machining method in which the metal is machined using an abrasive wheel. Its rough surface cuts away part of the surface at each revolution. Depending on the requirements, the finished part can have either a smooth or a rough surface. This process is very often used at both the hobby and industrial level, where a wide range of tools are also machined – for example, grinding shafts is particularly common.

These days, modern grinding machines are used to achieve precise results. Different types of machine are used for different applications: belt grinding machines may be used for certain objects, while cylindrical grinding machines are the most common for grinding tubes, rods or shafts. A relatively small angle grinder is also similar in principle to a machine tool and can be used to grind or cut a wide range of surfaces accurately and quickly.

The grinding of shafts is carried out using the reliable 3A64D, 3Б161, 3M152B, 3A130 grinding machines. Shafts with a maximum diameter of 500 mm and a maximum length and weight of 3000 mm and 2000 kg respectively can be machined. Grinding of rings, connecting rods, pulleys and flat surfaces and sharpening of knives are also carried out.
